Independent Studies
Students in Independent Studies may register in credit courses, but they are not considered to be enrolled in a program nor are they considered full-time students regardless of their course load. They can take CEGEP or university prerequisite courses or upgrade their academic record to improve their chances of admission or readmission to a program.

Please note:
The Ministry of Education requires that courses offered by CEGEPs enable students to follow a specific and well-defined academic path. The Student Information Form allows the College to identify the status and goals of Independent Students. New Independent Students must complete this form prior to registration in order to receive a student I.D.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents who hold a Secondary V certificate or equivalent or who have been away from full-time secondary school for at least one year are eligible to register for courses in Independent Studies.
A complete Student Information Sheet and one of the following is required in order to obtain an appointment to register:
- Canadian birth certificate,
- Canadian citizenship card,
- Permanent residency document,
- Letter of acceptance as a Convention refugee.
All students enrolled in Independent Studies are charged course fees, regardless of their course load.
