Director General named to serve on Conseil supérieur de l’éducation

Richard Filion, Director General of Dawson College, has been named to a four-year term on the Conseil supérieur de l’éducation. The president of the Conseil, Mr. Claude Lessard, made the announcement on Thursday (November 13).

Mr. Filion is one of nine new members to the 22-member Conseil, a body that advises the Ministry of Education on any number of issues and concerns on education. Members range from representatives of educational establishments at every level and different regions of Quebec. They are named by the government.

During their mandates, members intervene at every stage in the formulation of advice given by the Conseil to the government and reports on the state of education in the province and on the needs of the various sectors. They are not necessarily speaking on behalf of their own institutions. They have been chosen for their experience and expertise.
