About General Education

At Dawson College, General Education is referred to as Core, and English, French, Humanities and Physical Education are referred to as the Core disciplines. All students must take four English, three Humanities, two French and three Physical Education courses in order to meet the graduation requirements of the General Education portion of their College education. These courses are specific to students’ programs of study.

Two complementary courses are also required for graduation. Complementary courses are given in the following domains:

  • Social Science,
  • Science and Technology,
  • Language of Mathematics and Computers,
  • Modern Languages, and
  • Arts and Aesthetics.

Students must select complementary courses from one or two domains accessible to their programs and from disciplines outside those in their fields of concentration.
