"The eye only sees what the mind is ready to comprehend."
- Robertson Davies
Psychologists study behaviour and the physiological and mental processes that underlie behaviour. The four major basic goals of psychology are to describe, explain, predict and change behaviour.
Today, psychology is a diverse discipline with many areas of specialization in both the science and profession of psychology. For example, the major areas of research in the science of psychology include developmental psychology, social psychology, experimental psychology, psychological psychology, cognitive psychology, and personality.
Psychology at Dawson College is a discipline within the Social Science Program, the largest and most popular social science discipline at Dawson. Our size and popularity allow us to offer students interesting introductions to all of the research areas listed above through classes, labs, field trips and placements.
