pursuit of social justice; integrity; competence and confidentiality in professional practice; respect for inherent dignity and worth of persons; understand the importance and centrality of human relationships).<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><strong>Eligibility Criteria: <\/strong> <\/p>\n<div class=\"ExternalClassEA7305B7546B4E80AE9D04767DA62B11\">\n<ul>\n<li>Be a full-time student in their second year of the Social&#160;Service program<\/li>\n<li>Be in good academic standing (have a 70% average or above during their time at Dawson)<\/li>\n<li>Be able to demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to core social work values (i.e., service to humanity; pursuit of social justice; integrity; competence and confidentiality in professional practice; respect for inherent dignity and worth of persons; understand the importance and centrality of human relationships)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><strong>Application Period: <\/strong> September 25th, 2025 - October 14th, 2025<\/div>\n<p><\/p><\/div><\/div><div id=\"joe-rose-queer-community-engagement-award\" class=\"new dc_accordion  multiple\"  ><h4 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#joe-rose-queer-community-engagement-award\">Joe Rose Queer Community Engagement Award <\/a><\/h4><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><div><strong>Value: <\/strong> $1000.00<\/div>\n<div class=\"story\">\n<p>Established in 2025, this award was created and funded by the Dawson College Foundation. The award honours the legacy of Joe Rose, a Dawson Nursing student and AIDS activist, who, on March 19, 1989, was attacked and murdered in a homophobic hate crime. While attending Dawson, Joe founded the Etcetera Club, a safe space for LGBTQ+ students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"desc\">\n<p>The Joe Rose Queer Community Engagement Award is given to a student who identifies as 2SLGBTQIA+ and does advocacy and\/or organizing work within the queer community.<br \/>&#160;<br \/>&#160;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><strong>Eligibility Criteria: <\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community<\/li>\n<li>Must demonstrate a commitment to advocacy and\/or involvement in organizing work within the queer community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><strong>Application Period: <\/strong> September 25th, 2025 - October 14th, 2025<\/div>\n<p><\/p><\/div><\/div><div id=\"landry-family-award-for-neurodiversity-in-the-arts\" class=\"new dc_accordion  multiple\"  ><h4 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#landry-family-award-for-neurodiversity-in-the-arts\">Landry Family Award for Neurodiversity in the Arts <\/a><\/h4><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><div><strong>Value: <\/strong> $500.00<\/div>\n<div class=\"story\">\n<p>Established by the Landry Family Foundation, this award aims to support visual arts students at Dawson College who face learning challenges. The Mahsa Amini Initiative is a continuous, student-led project started in Fall 2022 by the DSU and its volunteers and supported by Dawson community members. One part of this project is a monetary award aiming to support resilient international and refugee students affected by conflict and in need of financial aid. Though often overlooked, these crises can have a significant negative impact on students\u2019 personal and academic lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"desc\">\n<p>Given to up to two students, the Mahsa Amini Scholarship aims to help resilient international and refugee students in financial need. Priority is given to students who identify as women and non-binary people to honour Mahsa Amini, movements fighting for women\u2019s freedom, and to recognize the persisting economic and social gender gap. All international and refugee students are encouraged to apply, regardless of gender.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><strong>Eligibility Criteria: <\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be an international student or refugee<\/li>\n<li>be in financial need or in need of extra financial support<\/li>\n<li>priority will be given to candidates who identify as women or non-binary people<\/li>\n<li>students who are tuition-exempt are not eligible for this award<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong>Special Notes: <\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>Applicants may also submit additional documents to the selection committee such as a picture, a piece of writing, or anything they wish to add. It was established to enable students to take an intensive outdoor education course that they may not otherwise be able to afford. She started her career at the Montreal Children\u2019s Hospita, after which she joined the palliative-care unit at the Royal Vic in 1996. She spent close to four decades caring in nursing.
