Application Instructions

 

Read the following instructions below carefully in order to properly submit an online application.

 

Step 1 - Complete the online application

Complete the online application carefully

Before starting your application, be sure to have on hand your birth certificate and your academic records. Answer every question. Your family name and given names should be entered exactly as they appear on your birth certificate.

Step 2 - Submit the application fee

Applicants can make their payment online using either Visa or MasterCard. Applicants can also pay by certified cheque or money order of $30.00 (Canadian) made payable to Dawson College. This fee is non-refundable.

Applicants presenting academic credentials from outside Canada are required to obtain an official attestation of equivalence from the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) or equivalent OR to pay an additional non-refundable fee of $50.00 for the evaluation of their credentials.  This fee can be paid online using Visa or Mastercard or by certified cheque or money order made payable to Dawson College.

Step 3 - Upload required documents

Upload required documents (birth certificate and/or status documents from Citizenship and Immigration Canada)

Applicants born in Canada

  • Born in Quebec: must upload your birth certificate issued by the Directeur de l’état civil including names of parents (contact: 514-864-3900 or 1-800-567-3900).
  • Born in Canada, but not in Quebec, upload your birth certificate that indicates place of birth including names of parents. Canadian Passport is not acceptable. Upload your Quebec Medicare card (RAMQ) or proof of health insurance valid throughout the duration of the session. Proof of Quebec Residence Required.

Applicants born outside Canada

Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident WITH a Quebec Certificate of Selection (CSQ), must upload:

  • BOTH sides of your Canadian Citizenship Card or ALL of your Canadian Citizenship documents or BOTH sides of your Permanent Resident Card or Convention Refugee status and Notice of Decision
  • your birth certificate that indicates place of birth including names of parents (officially translated into English or French if necessary)
  • your CSQ (Quebec Certificate of Selection) as proof of Quebec Residence
  • your Quebec Medicare card (RAMQ) or proof of health insurance valid throughout the duration of the session

Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident WITHOUT a Quebec Certificate of Selection, must upload:

  • BOTH sides of your Canadian Citizenship card or ALL of your Canadian Citizenship documents or BOTH sides of your Permanent Resident card
  • your Quebec Medicare card (RAMQ) or proof of health insurance valid throughout the duration of the session
  • your birth certificate that indicates place of birth including names of parents (officially translated into English or French if necessary)

International Student Status

  • The following documents prove temporary residency, and allow you to study in Quebec without paying international student tuition fees:
    • Diplomatic passport and acceptance visa valid throughout the duration of the session & letter of Protocol
    • Study permit accompanied by either of the following:
      • Letter of entente regarding tuition
      • Proof of French citizenship
      • Copy of parental work permit listing student as a dependent & Study Permit
      • Notice of Decision – specifically for those with Refugee status (and a document stating the person’s name in full, date of birth & place of birth, if available) (must have a CSQ to be considered a Quebec Resident) (a convention Refugee who does not have a CSQ must pay non-Quebec Resident fees)
  • The following documents prove temporary residency, and allow you to study in Quebec, but you will be liable for international student tuition fees: ($32.04* to $50.78* per hour)
    • refugee claimant paper (and a document stating the person’s name in full, date of birth & place of birth, if available)
    • student visa (valid throughout the duration of the session)
    • work permit (valid throughout the duration of the session)
    • visitor’s visa (valid throughout the duration of the session)
    • proof of health insurance (valid throughout the duration of the session)

Important

PROOF OF QUEBEC RESIDENCY

If proof of Quebec residence has not been established, students will automatically be charged the non-Quebec resident fees (subject to change) of an additional $6.69* per course hour for part-time students and $1,780.00* for full-time students. To determine your Quebec Residence, you must request an Attestation of Quebec Residency Status Form and submit the required original documents which will be returned immediately. Step 4 - Upload required educational documents

UPLOAD required educational documents

Applicants with High School Studies in Quebec

  • Applicants who have already completed their Secondary School diploma – report card is not required unless you attended a private High School.

Applicants with High School Studies outside Quebec but in Canada

  • Must upload their Secondary School transcripts and diploma.

Applicants with High School Studies outside Canada

  • Must upload Official Attestation of Equivalence from the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) or equivalent

OR

  • Must upload certified cumulative transcript for at least the last 2 years of high school (secondary) studies officially translated into English or French if necessary and
  • Must upload their Diploma or Certificate of Studies, if completed, officially translated into English or French if necessary and
  • Applicants with post-secondary (College or University) studies must upload official transcripts including courses in progress officially translated into English or French if necessary.

Step 5 - Choose your program

Choose the program you want to register for Continuing Education courses

Select the one scenario that best describes your situation.

1. SPRINGBOARD TO DCS (Tremplin DEC Transition program)

  • For students wishing to take CEGEP courses in order to explore CEGEP studies
  • complete prerequisites required for admission to a CEGEP program
  • in order to upgrade academic record to improve chances of admission or readmission to a CEGEP program
  • to complete a CEGEP program (please take note that for former Dawson DEC students, once they have completed all their courses through Springboard to a DCS (Tremplin DEC Transition program), they will need to reapply to their original program in order to graduate).

Admission Requirement:

To be admissible to Springboard to a DCS (DEC), students must have the Quebec Diploma of Secondary Studies (D.E.S.) or equivalent.

2. UNIVERSITY PREREQUISITES

Students who already have a DEC or equivalent and who wish to complete courses specifically required by a university for admission to a program must register in 08004 (08040).  Please refer to the timetable to view a complete list of courses available.
