FAQ For Faculty

  • Stay home.
  • Call the government’s COVID-19 information line at 514-644-4545 OR complete the Quebec Government Symptom Self-Assessment Tool and follow the instructions: https://COVID19.quebec.ca/surveys/cdd2/introduction
  • Fill out Dawson’s COVID-19 screening questionnaire on Omnivox and a Health Services Nurse will reach out to you.
  • Contact the Sector Dean’s office or Continuing Education Dean’s office.
  • If you develop symptoms while you are at Dawson, go home immediately wearing your procedural mask or if you must wait for transportation, go to the Security Desk (2E.14). You will be taken to a waiting room until your transportation arrives.
  • Contact COVID HR: COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca
  • Contact the Sector Dean’s office or Continuing Education Dean’s office to discuss teaching arrangements.
  • The waiting period for testing allows for maintenance of salary.
  • Once you receive your test results, you must send them directly to COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca and wait to receive directives regarding your case.

  • If your test is negative, but you still have symptoms, you should stay home. This period does NOT allow for a maintenance of salary and requires you use sick days from your bank.
  • If you test positive for COVID, you must send your results to COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca and wait for directives regarding your case.
  • This period allows for a maintenance of salary.
  • If you are an hourly paid teacher, this period is non-remunerated and you must refer to the application of Les normes du travail (Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail).
  • If your COVID test is positive, but you report no symptoms (and are feeling well enough to teach), you must contact the Sector Dean’s office or Continuing Education Dean’s office, who will have to approve remote teaching.
  • Contact COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca and send the required documents from DRSP regarding your period of quarantine.
  • You must contact your Dean who will make the decision to approve remote teaching in your case.

  • This period allows for maintenance of salary as a COVID absence.

  • If your discipline and/or course does not allow you to teach remotely, the period of your quarantine does NOT allow maintenance of salary.
If you are the parent who must accompany your child to get tested, you must:

  • Contact COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca
  • During the wait period, you are required to take a family responsibility absence.
  • If the test is negative, but your child still has symptoms and you must stay home to care for them, you are required to take a family responsibility leave of absence.
  • If your child’s test is positive, you must follow the directives from DRSP and contact COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca This situation may require you to take a family responsibility leave of absence.
  • Contact COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca to inform them of your particular situation.
  • Contact your manager.
  • Contact the Sector Dean’s office or Continuing Education Dean’s office.
  • If you have to stay home due to your child’s school closure or other situation that you have informed COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca about, you will need to take a family responsibility leave of absence.
