FAQ For Staff

  • Stay home.
  • Fill out Dawson’s COVID-19 screening questionnaire on Omnivox. Dawson’s Staff Health Nurse will contact you.
  • Contact your manager.
  • If you develop symptoms while you are at Dawson, put on a procedural mask and go home immediately.  If you must wait for transportation, go to the Security Desk (2E.14). You will be taken to a waiting room until your transportation arrives.
  • Contact COVID HR – COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca and follow the directives
  • The waiting period for testing allows for maintenance of salary.
  • Once you receive your test results, you must send them directly to COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca and wait to receive directives regarding your case.

  • If your test is negative, but you still have symptoms, you should stay home. This period does NOT allow for a maintenance of salary and requires you use sick days from your bank.
  • If you test positive for COVID, you must send your results to COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca and wait for directives regarding your case.
  • This period allows for a maintenance of salary.
  • If you have tested positive for COVID, but feel well enough to work, with approval from your manager, you may work remotely.
  • If you feel too unwell to work, the first 5 days are paid through sick bank. If illness extends beyond 5 days, the absence will be processed as a medical leave in accordance with your collective agreement
  • If you test positive for COVID, but you report no symptoms (and are feeling well enough to work), you must contact your manager who will determine if you could work remotely to carry out your duties.

If you are the parent who must accompany your child to get tested, you must:

  • Contact COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca
  • During the wait period, you are required to take a family obligation absence which is deducted from your sick bank.
  • If the test is negative, but your child still has symptoms, and you must stay home to care for them, you are required to take a family obligation leave of absence.
  • If your child’s test is positive, you must follow the directives from DRSP and contact COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca.
  • Contact COVIDhr@dawsoncollege.qc.ca to inform them of your particular situation.
  • Contact your manager, and they will determine if you could work remotely to carry out your duties.
  • If your position does not allow telework, this absence will be covered by family obligation in accordance with your collective agreement.

(Employees who must care for a family member due to a COVID situation may be eligible to benefit from Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB) from the Government of Canada).
