Catherine Braithwaite has been teaching in the Department of History since 2008 and during that time she has been on a personal odyssey to expand her philosophy of teaching and learning beyond the simple fact-filled history lecture to a world of where students are active participants in their learning. In recent years her formal education in business and history (BComm and BA History from Concordia and MA History from McGill) has been supplemented by Dawson fellowships in Active Learning and E-Learning. Together, these new pedagogical approaches offer her a variety of diverse and stimulating strategies and activities to engage students in their History courses (because after all, History is so much more than just dates!)
