In recent years, these tools have become more user-friendly and accessible to teachers, who are using them to support a blended or fully on-line approach within their teaching practice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:ybrouillette@dawsoncollege.qc.ca\">Yann Brouillette<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:cleung@dawsoncollege.qc.ca\">Carmen Leung<\/a>\u00a0are 2 such teachers from Dawson College. Profweb and\u00a0<a class=\" externe\" title=\"Opens in a new window.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saltise.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SALTISE<\/a>\u00a0invited them to discuss how they are using videos created from PowerPoint which are augmented with interactivity using\u00a0<a class=\" externe\" title=\"Opens in a new window.\" href=\"https:\/\/h5p.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">H5P<\/a>\u00a0within\u00a0<a class=\" externe\" title=\"Opens in a new window.\" href=\"https:\/\/moodle.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moodle<\/a>. They are using this along with the\u00a0<a class=\" externe\" title=\"Opens in a new window.\" href=\"https:\/\/mydalite.org\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">myDALITE<\/a>\u00a0platform as the foundation for their approach to distance delivery. Teachers who are taking their first steps towards alternative delivery can pick and choose pieces of the described approach according to their comfort level with technology and taking their particular needs into account.<\/p>\n<p>This inaugural podcast is part of what we hope will become a series of podcasts that highlight how teachers are innovating in the digital age. These podcasts are a collaborative effort between Profweb and the SALTISE active learning community of practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Podcast #1 is comprised of 3 parts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Part 1 is an\u00a0<strong>interview\u00a0<\/strong>that describes the approach used by Carmen and Yann.<\/li>\n<li>Part 2 is a\u00a0<strong>virtual visit<\/strong>\u00a0of the Moodle platform with the interactive video component with formative quizzes (using H5P) and summative questions (using myDALITE).<\/li>\n<li>Part 3 is a quick\u00a0<strong>tutorial\u00a0<\/strong>on producing videos using PowerPoint and adding H5P interactivity within the Moodle platform.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Learning about the approach<\/h2>\n<p>In this interview, Kevin Lenton and I ask Carmen and Yann about the approach they have been using to create asynchronous video capsules for their students.<\/p>\n<div class=\"media js-accessibility\">\n<div class=\"accessibility\">\n<p>The following media is not accessible for the web according to current standards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Part 1 of the podcast contains the interview with Carmen Leung and Yann Brouillette.<\/p>\n<div data-service=\"youtube\" data-category=\"functional\" data-id=\"9OKfyUVyLTc\" data-title=\"\" data-autoscale><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>A tour of the interactive video and myDALITE inside Moodle<\/h2>\n<p>In part 2 of the podcast, Carmen and Yann take us on a virtual visit of a course in their Moodle environment which integrates interactive videos exported from PowerPoint. H5P adds a layer of interactivity on top of these videos that allows for formative assessments. We also see how Carmen and Yann embed summative assessment questions from myDALITE in Moodle.
