Usha James of the Critical Thinking Consortium will be back with us for Ped Days this Fall.\u00a0 She\u00a0will speak about and model critical thinking and student engagement. She has co-authored textbooks, teachers\u2019 resources, course profiles and ministry documents with the aim of providing practical strategies for teachers seeking to refine their practice. Her keynote\u00a0Seizing opportunities and meeting the challenges of \u00a0assessment in online, blended and physically distanced environment\u00a0<\/em>will be given Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. (registration details coming soon).<\/p>\n The closing plenary will be hosted by Michelle Miller, whose session is entitled\u00a0Assessing for Learning: How Testing and Practice Help Students Become Expert Thinkers.<\/em>\u00a0Michelle is the author of\u00a0Minds Online: Teaching Effectively with Technology<\/em>\u00a0(Harvard University Press, 2014).<\/p>\n She teaches Psychological Sciences at Northern Arizona University and works with faculty at NAU and other institutions to improve their teaching practices and course designs, with an emphasis on evidence-based practices and innovative use of educational technology. This keynote will take place Oct. 16 from 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. (registration details coming soon).<\/p>\n Ped Day workshops delivered by Dawson faculty and external presenters will take place Oct. 14 (morning and afternoon sessions) and Oct. 15 (morning sessions only).<\/p>\n All faculty and professionals are welcome to attend any and all sessions.
