Oct. 7, 2020

Effective Oct. 8, 2020 and until further notice, colleges and universities must reduce as much as possible in-person activities to limit the spread of COVID-19. Here is what that means at Dawson College.

In-person learning activities

As of Oct. 8, the only in-person learning activities that will be permitted during this red-alert period are those that were designated as essential and were approved prior to the beginning of the semester.

Registrar’s Office

In addition to online Academic Advising, limited in-person services will be available every day. For more information, please check the Advising website. The Registrar’s reception will be open Monday to Thursday.

Student Services

The library will remain open for borrowing items and for students to connect to online classes before or after an essential activity. Students may also use Conrod’s to attend their online classes and use the Upper Atrium to rest between classes. The following services can be accessed online and will also have limited in-person presence; please check the hours of operation on the Student Hub website:

  • Personal Counselling
  • Health Services
  • Student AccessAbility Centre
  • Financial Aid

The following services – Academic Skills, ATE and job placement, Career Resource Centre, Campus Life and Leadership and tutoring and mentoring for athletes – will be available online only.

The following activities and facilities are suspended or closed:

  • All team sports, activities and practices are suspended for the remainder of the fall semester.
  • The weight rooms and gyms are closed.

Computer equipment

Students who need equipment to connect online or who have Internet issues should contact the Helpdesk.
