By now you should...

  • Have accepted your offer and reserved
    your spot by following the instructions on your
    notification of admission.

  • Understand any condition(s) on your admission
    and finish the current semester strong!

In May, you need to...

  • Activate your My Dawson student portal. See the instructional video on the Dawson website:

  • Register for the English placement test through your My Dawson portal.

    Click on My College Services > Placement Test Registration and Results > Registration (Register for your placement test)

  • Write your English placement test. (Only students completing high school outside of Quebec are required to do a French placement test.)

  • Contact the Student AccessAbility Centre if you require special accommodations.

In June, you need to...

  • Pay your fees through the My Dawson portal or at the Student Fees Counter in 4B.5. The deadline to pay is June 28, 2018.

In July, don’t forget to...

  • Relax and re-energize yourself for the school year ahead!

  • Look out for your invitation to the Welcome Week Information Sessions taking place Friday, August 10 to Wednesday, August 15, 2018.

    Invitations will be sent to your personal email and to your My Dawson portal.

  • Review your program handbook on your My Dawson portal.

    Log into My Dawson portal. Click on:

    My College Services > Program Handbook

  • Watch the How to Register and the First Semester Academic Orientation videos at

In August, you need to...

  • Look for your English and French Placements on your My Dawson portal under:
    My College Services > Placement Test Registration and Results > Results (Check your placement test results)

  • Find out your individual Course Registration access time under My Omnivox Services on your My Dawson portal. The Course Registration system will be accessible as of August 9, 2018.

  • Review your progression chart and important registration information on your My Dawson portal under My College Services.

  • Register for your courses online. If you have any questions, call the Registration Help Line at 514-931-5701 or use the “live chat” option.

  • Finalize your registration.

  • Reserve a locker through your My Dawson portal under My Omnivox Services once your schedule has been finalized. A $10 fee payable online by Visa or MasterCard applies.

  • Attend your Welcome Week Information Session on the date assigned for your program. See start time on the invitation sent to your My Dawson portal and to your personal e-mail address back in July.

  • Have your picture taken and collect your student ID card during the Welcome Week Information Session. It is mandatory for all Dawson students to carry a valid Dawson ID card.

During the first week of classes...

  • Go to all of your classes.

  • If you haven’t picked up the agenda and reusable water bottle offered by the Dawson Student Union during your Welcome Week Information Session, you can pick up these items at the Dawson Student Union Office in 2F.2 next to the Info Desk during the first week of classes.

  • Review your course outlines and start putting important deadlines in your agenda.

  • Buy your textbooks at the bookstore located in the Lower Atrium, 1F.2, and be sure to keep up with the readings.

  • Add money for photocopying to your student ID card at the refill station located in the 2C wing. To add money to your printing account, refill stations are located in the library and in the 2H wing near the Computer Help Desk.

  • If necessary/possible, make a schedule modification. The last day to modify your schedule (make a course change) is Wednesday, August 29, 2018. Fees apply.

  • Print out your STM Opus card form from your My Dawson student portal and proceed to Métro Berri-UQAM to pick-up your card.

  • Set academic goals and take advantage of all the services and resources Dawson has to offer.

  • Visit the Office for First-Year Students located in 2D.0.
