5 tips to protect yourself against cyber attacks

 

  1. Stop, think and check
    There is an epidemic of phishing (fraudulent attempts to get access to your computer/device or your data) these days. Please take a moment to think before clicking on a link in an email, text message or messenger app. Even when the sender is known, their account could be compromised and their message may have been sent to you by someone else.
  2. Report suspicious incidents
    If you receive a strange email or suspect that someone is trying to get access to your computer or does indeed have access, report any and all incidents to Dawson’s Help Desk: helpdesk@dawsoncollege.qc.ca
  3. In case of loss, contact Help Desk
    If your computer or device is lost or stolen, you must inform the Help Desk as soon as possible: helpdesk@dawsoncollege.qc.ca This applies to Dawson property as well as any personal devices that you use to access your Dawson account.
  4. Avoid using portable storage devices
    These devices put the College information at elevated risk.
  5. Only store College data on Sharepoint, Office 365 or the College servers
    All your work files should be stored on Sharepoint, Office 365 or on the R (shared folders) and H Drives (personal folders). These are the only file storage options sanctioned by the College. Employees are not supposed to be using Dropbox or Google Drive. If you need help, make an appointment to get advice from Help Desk: helpdesk@dawsoncollege.qc.ca
