Emergent: ALC Festival 2020

The Arts, Literature and Communication Festival presents the work of graduating ALC students from six profiles, along with interdisciplinary events.

The Literature Profile will launch the Creations Journal on May 29, the same day Cinema-Communications presents student media works (beginning at 8 p.m.).

The Arts and Culture Gala, Studio Arts’ No Lunch in Class and Languages’ Bloom, Resist Violence: Detention as well as other graduating work can be accessed through our website.

This year’s theme, Emergent, celebrates the achievements of graduating students as they present their work to their peers and the broader Dawson Community.

Our theme was imagined pre-pandemic and initially referenced our graduating students as ‘emergent’ as well as last fall’s global “Strike for Climate Change.”

The pandemic has added another layer of meaning, as Emergent now references our students as they respond to a new social reality, emerging virtually with artworks that express something of the changes that have taken place over the past few weeks, but also with works that express hopefulness for a real future emergence, and with a commitment to the kinds of social changes that inspired the theme of the festival in the first place.

Please join us in congratulating the ALC Class of 2020.
