Workshop Registration

Building directly on the keynote session, this hands-on workshop will engage participants in building classroom activities and assignments that highlight the space for learning (and failure) as a process. Specifically, we will move from why failure matters to how we design for it. Drawing from the science of learning, participants will be guided through explicit ways to adapt ideas around failure and cognitive friction to their own context. We will also reflect on alignment between competencies, learning activities and assignments to see how failure can be built into the learning path. Participants are invited to bring one of their own assignments to this session for review and will leave the workshop with a friction map of one of their courses.
