Dawson Hackathon

Late registration of teams until Thursday April 11th at 18:00.

The Dawson Hackathon is a collaborative, interdisciplinary event where students work in teams to find creative solutions to a themed challenge. No experience will be necessary.

The themed challenge is Arduino-based and will involve the construction of a micro-robot designed to perform a task. Student teams (minimum 2, maximum 4) will be provided with a kit of components and precise instructions. For students who are not part of a team at the time of registration, we will try to match you with other participants to form a team. Registration is separate from the ScienceFest presenters form (see below).

At the Friday April 12th kickoff, teams will learn about the precise details of the challenge, organize their projects, socialize with peers, receive preparatory mentorship and see presentations. Saturday April 13th is challenge day. Teams present their projects at the end of the day to judges and mentors with prizes going to winners in different categories.

Subsequent videos walk you through other hardware and software aspects of the Arduino platform. There are many resources and project examples that can be found with a simple web search. It takes only a few minutes to get started building with this technology!

The event takes place in the multipurpose room, 5B.16, April 12-13. You are not required to be present at all times in order to compete in the event with your team.
