Solar-Powered Radio Station

January 22nd - May 10th, 2019

Two classes of Dawson Electronics Engineering students, along with their counterparts in a school in Tres Marias, Morelos, Mexico, will help design and build components for a community’s first solar-powered internet radio station housed in a traditional adobe brick house. This off-electrical grid house will also collect rooftop water to create a pond micro-habitat for indigenous species and help irrigate the vegetable crops. The students will design a system that can generate, store and release electrical energy to power radio show productions for the community. The first broadcast from the building will be to the Dawson students in May, 2019.
