The Dawson English Journal 2019

2018-19

The Dawson English Journal is an academic journal, published online and in print, which features compositions written by Dawson students for their English courses (and related subjects). The journal is run by an editorial team made up of students. We get submissions of assignments from students across all programs, and we publish them (online and in a beautiful, professional print version) so that friends, family and the general public can see what great thinking, reading, and writing Dawson students are doing in their courses.

Project Update

This year we had seven editors work with us throughout the year (two returning, one for the third time), and they selected twelve essays for publication out of a pool of over 40 submissions from student writers. The call for submissions was open, as always, to all students, as was the call for editors. While the majority of interested students were from Liberal Arts and ALC lit profile, we received submissions from students across the disciplines. The selection process was blind.

The Dawson English Journal published its tenth issue in April 2019. We held a launch party on May 10th in Oliver's. The launch celebration featured readings by the student authors and was attended by student editors and contributors, faculty, graphic designers, and family and friends of the student editors and authors. In all there were about 40-50 people in attendance.
