El tema del d\u00eda fue <em><strong>cosechar<\/strong><\/em>, despu\u00e9s de los temas previos, arar y sembrar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">El director de Tres Mar\u00edas, Jorge Viana y Gisela Fr\u00edas, coordinadora de Planteles Educativos Sustentables dieron la bienvenida a aproximadamente 100 estudiantes y miembros del personal en una presentaci\u00f3n al aire libre. Ambos hablaron de la relaci\u00f3n de ya 3 a\u00f1os que es representativa del tema del d\u00eda, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cosechar, cosechar un compromiso educativo que es este foro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1863 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u13-e1523893632200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"380\" height=\"329\" \/>Las actividades comenzaron cuando se le pidi\u00f3 a cada participante canadiense que plantara un \u00e1rbol, de especie nativa, cerca de los jardines del plantel, como parte del plan de biodiversidad. Despu\u00e9s vimos las verduras y plantas medicinales, como el br\u00f3coli que est\u00e1n creciendo en semilleros para luego transferirlas a los jardines. Se est\u00e1 experimentando para la seguridad alimentaria como parte de la teor\u00eda y pr\u00e1ctica. La producci\u00f3n de comida, las habilidades locales y los productos que los turistas que conducen por el \u00e1rea pueden comprar est\u00e1 aumentando, esto es<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> parte del plan econ\u00f3mico del \u00e1rea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Un impresionante proyecto, usando conocimiento local y materiales naturales, es el proyecto de bioconstrucci\u00f3n en el plantel. Ladrillos de adobe fueron colocados en una fundaci\u00f3n de 1.5 metros de alto <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">con pacas de avena colocadas encima, agregando 2 metros de altura. Cuando hace calor afuera, el edificio permanece fr\u00edo. El plan es agregar ventanas, paneles solares y tener un techo que tambi\u00e9n recolecta agua. El objetivo es demostrar t\u00e9cnicas de bioconstrucci\u00f3n de la comunidad y utilizar el espacio para un proyecto de radio comunitaria.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1865\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1865\" style=\"width: 380px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1865\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u15.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"380\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u15.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u15-800x533.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u15-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1865\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Proyecto de Bio diversidad<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Despu\u00e9s, estudiantes y profesores presentaron un proyecto que tiene como objetivo crear un inventario de biodiversidad local. El objetivo es reconocer la flora y fauna local de la comunidad y que los estudiantes aprendan t\u00e9cnicas de identificaci\u00f3n de especies como parte de sus clases en la escuela. El proyecto est\u00e1 ayudando a aclarar mitos de hechos, ya que muchas veces animales locales son exterminados por mitos asociados con ellos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Una radio comunitaria ser\u00e1 coordinada por estudiantes y miembros del personal. Se est\u00e1 construyendo un peque\u00f1o estudio usando cartones de huevos en las paredes para actuar como aislamiento de sonido. No hay en la actualidad una estaci\u00f3n de radio y esta estaci\u00f3n por internet <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">transmitir\u00e1 historias locales sobre la agricultura, los alimentos, temas acad\u00e9micos y otras historias de inter\u00e9s comunitario.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1866\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1866\" style=\"width: 380px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1866\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u16.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"380\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u16.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u16-800x533.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u16-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1866\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Preparatoria 2<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Otra escuela local fue representada por una exhibici\u00f3n y demostraci\u00f3n de plantas medicinales locales y tinturas. Los estudiantes se ven a s\u00ed mismos como &#8220;promotores de salud&#8221; y discutieron la p\u00e9rdida de jardines medicinales debido al reciente sismo. Su demostraci\u00f3n sobre la propagaci\u00f3n de plantas fue muy informativa e importante ya que los jardines en el \u00e1rea necesitan nuevas plantas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sarah Cartier, maestra y co directora de CRLT en Dawson, present\u00f3 un powerpoint sobre pr\u00e1cticas de alto impacto y c\u00f3mo los valores centrales de Dawson, de excelencia, colaboraci\u00f3n, bienestar para todos, est\u00e1n en el centro de las actividades de alto impacto. Ella desafi\u00f3 a los participantes a so\u00f1ar grande y a trabajar con sus maestros para tratar de crear el cambio que buscan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gisela Fr\u00edas y Paulina Moguel, coordinadoras del proyecto Planteles Educativos Sustentables presentaron sobre los Sustentours- talleres <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">y sesiones de capacitaci\u00f3n destinadas a apoyar el trabajo de <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sustentabilidad en los planteles tanto como la educaci\u00f3n por la sustentabilidad en las escuelas participantes y a cosechar y exportar su aprendizaje en la comunidad. Al caminar en nuevos espacios, nuestros sentidos son elevados y esto es parte de aprender. Los foros itinerantes aumentan el movimiento y este movimiento aumenta el aprendizaje. Estos foros nos sacan de la jaula que son las salas de clase tradicionales y fuera de las cuatro paredes que limitan nuestra capacidad de usar varios sentidos al aprender y sentir.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Representantes de UPN, UPEMOR, Dawson y Tres Mar\u00edas hablaron brevemente a lado de los paneles que representaban los proyectos de sus escuelas, destacando c\u00f3mo el proyecto de Planteles Educativos Sustentables ha influido en sus instituciones. Jorge Viana de Tres Mar\u00edas fue el \u00faltimo en presentar y resumi\u00f3 la sesi\u00f3n con un comentario sobre la cosecha de varios foros, de l<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a necesidad de sentir los foros y c\u00f3mo aprender de ellos acad\u00e9micamente. Hemos cosechado amistades y a trav\u00e9s de esta fuerza de grupo tenemos la responsabilidad de actuar y plantar de nuevo. Que expresi\u00f3n maravillosa de amistad, fue a trav\u00e9s de la m\u00fasica y el arte en un lugar m\u00e1gico, alto en las monta\u00f1as en el centro de M\u00e9xico. Fue un lugar especial de cosecha con alegr\u00eda, baile y canto que me record\u00f3 a los componentes importantes que como humanos necesitamos para florecer. Cosech\u00e9 ciertamente un sentido de bienestar en este dia y <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fue un d\u00eda de florecimiento que puede alimentar un futuro positivo<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The theme of the day was <\/span><b><i>harvesting<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">after the previous forum themes of plowing and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sowing.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The director of Tres Marias, Jorge Viana and Gisela Frias, Sustainable Campuses Initiative coordinator from Dawson College welcomed approximately 100 students and staff at an outdoor presentation. Both spoke of a three year relationship that was also expressed in the theme of the day, to harvest an educational commitment that is this forum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1863 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/sustainable-campuses\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/u13-e1523893632200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"380\" height=\"329\" \/>The various activities started with every Canadian participant asked to plant a native tree species near the campus gardens as part of its biodiversity plan. We were then shown the medicinal plants and vegetables like broccoli that were being grown in small seed beds for transfering into the gardens. Food security is being experienced at Tres Marias as part of theory and practice. Increasing the food production and local skills and products that tourists driving through the area could purchase is part of an economic plan in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">An impressive example of using local knowledge and natural materials was a bioconstruction project on site. Adobe bricks were placed on a foundation about 1.5 metres in height with oat bales placed on top adding another 2 metres in height. When it is hot outside, the building remains cool. The plan is to add windows, solar panels, and have a roof that also collects water. The objective was to get to know the local flora and fauna of the community and for students to learn identification techniques as part of the school courses. The project helped to separate myths from facts as some local animals are killed because of myths associated with them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A local radio station will be coordinated by students and staff and a small studio is being built using egg cartons on the walls to act as sound proofing. Students view themselves as \u201chealth promoters\u201d and discussed the loss of medicinal gardens because of the recent earthquake. Their demonstration on plant propagation was most informative and important as gardens in the area need new plants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gisela Frias and Paulina Moguel, coordinators of the Sustainable Campuses Initiative presented the \u201cSustentours\u201d \u2013 workshops, and training sessions aimed to support campus sustainability \u2013 and how education for sustainability must lead to action. There is a responsibility for the Sustainable Campuses participating schools to harvest and export their learning into the community. We need to identify the tools people need, what knowledge they already have, the methods they can use to further expand our efforts.Sarah Cartier, teacher and Co-Chair of CRLT at Dawson, presented a powerpoint about high impact practices \u00a0and how Dawson\u2019s core values of excellence, collaboration, well-being for all, are at the centre of high impact activities. As we walk in new spaces, our senses are heightened and this is part of learning. Itinerant forums increase movement and this movement increases learning. These forums get us out of the \u201ccage\u201d that is a traditional classroom and away from four walls that limit our capacity to use various senses in learning and feeling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Representatives from UPN, UPEMOR, Dawson and Tres Marias all spoke briefly beside their school project panels outlining how the sustainable campuses project has influenced their institution. Jorge Viana of Tres Marias was last and summed up the session with a comment on the harvest of several forums \u2013 the need to feel the forums as much as learn from them academically. \u00a0We have harvested friendships and from this group strength, we have a responsibility to act and plant again. What a wonderful expression of friendship it was through art and music in a magical place high in the mountains of Central Mexico. It was a very special place of harvest with joy, dancing \u00a0and singing that reminded me of important components of what we as humans need to flourish. I have certainly harvested a sense of well-being this day and it was a day of flourishing that can fuel a positive future.
