The central theme is urban restoration as a facilitator of peace.

What a theme, you need to think, discuss it, and critically analyze it to understand and to use it as a tool that can give us new directions to recover, find, promote, search, acquire or build the peace that we want. We began by getting to know each other without words, because there these are not always needed, then we went for a tour of the Three Sisters Garden, a space where seeds are cultivated and then offered as support for sustaining those that need it the most.

We went to the Peace Garden, we walked unhurriedly, with shrewd eyes and ears. It rained a bit, and it was a bit windy but it so that Aeolus and Tlaloc would also enjoy the walk, I am sure they take pride in such space. We asked a lot of questions, as it should be, fortunately Cindy Elliot and Jenn De Vera were our guides.

It was time to learn about a project of urban restoration in Mexico. This is what it is all about, sharing, so Yessi Vergara, student at the UPN Cuernavaca, shared her experience of intervention at the “Heroes of 47 kindergarten in Tepetzingo Morelos” . It was a moment not only interesting and also emotional. We listened with pleasure and asked questions with even more pleasure as she answered us expressing her obvious emotion. Definitely, to see see youth in action is both exciting and hopeful.

At noon we faced a challenge, to create a space for insects. They are so important that we can not but try to provide for them habitats that favor their welfare and of course ours. That is how the idea of building an “Insect Resort ” for different insect species wishing to stay at Dawson College came about. It seemed a daunting task at 2 pm, but with motivation and working collaboratively, at 5 in the afternoon we had the prototype ready. The challenge now is to have it ready this Friday 16, to see the team’s response, I’m sure we will succeed.

At the end the day, we listened to Dr. Samantha Nutt, founder of the “War Child Canada” program who with her whit, experience and willingness, told us about the realities that often do not want see. She urged us to just to see them, not ignore them and to become agents of change with all that this implies. It’s time.

If this was the first day … what will happen tomorrow ?. I am more than ready to see it. Thanks to the organizing team led by Diana Rice, and the kind support of Gisela Frias to make sure that language is not a limitation for us to participate.

<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery
