Access to the College

COVID-19 Symptom Screening

  • All students and employees must complete a screening questionnaire each day before they come to the College
  • In order to keep all members of Dawson Community as safe and healthy as possible, any symptoms and risk factors will result in access to the College being denied until Health Services can thoroughly assess the situation
  • Follow-up is done by the College Nurses (the designated Public Health Agents on campus)
  • If it has been more than 24 hours since an employee or student last completed the questionnaire, they will be directed to fill it out again to gain access

Access to Dawson College is currently limited to employees and students

  • Students and employees must present a printed or virtual Dawson ID Card to gain entrance
  • Cards are scanned at entrance to confirm COVID-19 symptoms questionnaire compliance and to do contact tracing if necessary
  • You will be asked to swap out your mask for a new procedural mask provided by the College
  • Everyone must sanitize or wash hands at entrance
  • There are a limited number of entrance and exit points
  • The College is not open to the public at this time
  • People coming to the College should have a reason for being here
  • Students are welcome on site for a particular class/activity/service
  • Employees are welcome to work on site
  • Currently, the campus is not a place to hang out. It is a place for specific learning activities and limited on-site services. It is also a workplace.
  • Students who must attend an online course before or after an on-campus activity:
    • Have to show their course schedule as proof they need to do this at the College
    • Can use the Library from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Monday through Thursday) and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.(Friday) or the Upper Atrium or Conrod’s if they need to eat lunch while attending their online class

On campus expectations of employees and students

  • Students:
  • Employees: Go straight to your office/work site
  • All:
    • Use the closest bathroom and exit via the closest exit
    • Do not hang around the College
    • Follow the health and hygiene protocols
    • Eat only in designated areas
    • Masks must be worn when circulating in the College and when a 2 meter distance cannot be maintained

Practice good hygiene  

All students and employees are encouraged to practice good hygiene to help prevent and control the spread of infection.

  • Upon entering and exiting the College and frequently in between, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Use hand sanitizer when you cannot wash your hands
  • Keep at least 2 meters away from other people
  • Wear masks when distance is not possible and in public places
  • Follow all the health recommendations of the Quebec Government
