Notice to the Research Community

Please be advised that while the moratorium on all new research studies conducted by external researchers will remain in place for the 2014-15 academic year, it will not apply to studies by external researchers partnered with Dawson researchers. External researchers seeking to recruit Dawson students or staff to serve as research participants for their studies are encouraged to collaborate with Dawson researchers on their studies.
Any study by an external researcher that does not include a Dawson principal investigator or a Dawson co-investigator falls under the moratorium and will not be granted institutional approval to proceed at Dawson College. During the period of this moratorium, our resources to support research at the College will be focused on studies involving Dawson College researchers.
We thank external researchers for their interest in conducting research at Dawson. We welcome opportunities to continue forging collaborative research relationships with external researchers as we advance the research agenda at Dawson College.

Application for Renewal of Ethics Approval
Research Study Closure Form
Following the successful review of a project, ethics approval is granted for a period of one year. At the end of this one-year period, researchers are asked to submit either an Application for Renewal of Ethics Approval or a Research Study Closure Form (see links to these forms above). Please note that if you are planning to apply to have your ethics certificate renewed, the application must be received by the REB at least one month before the expiration date on your ethics certificate.

NB: What happens once my application is received by the REB?

Once an application for Ethics Review has been received, the REB will conduct a preliminary review to ensure it is complete, and determine whether it will go to a Full Board Review or Delegated Review.

Delegated Review is reserved for projects deemed to be of minimal risk, at the discretion of the REB.

Applications for Full Board Review are reviewed at regular scheduled meetings of the REB. See dates in the Important Dates section.
