Commerce Profile (300.EB)

Commerce is a two-year pre-university profile within the Social Science program designed for students interested in studying any commerce-related field (finance, marketing, accounting, human resources, etc.) or any field in the social sciences at university.

The Commerce profile is designed for students interested in studying commerce, management, economics, or any business-related field at university. This profile is structured so that students take relevant courses in Mathematics and Business Administration while exploring the diversity of the social sciences through the program courses. These courses are central to the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for future studies and careers.

Over the past years, 80% of the students who graduate from Commerce at Dawson College have continued their studies in commerce and related fields at university. Graduates have also entered fields such as law, journalism and psychology.

Among the skills you will acquire in the Commerce Profile are how to:

• recognize the significant role the social sciences play in understanding the business environment
• use mathematical analysis to understand and solve business problems
• analyze basic business problems, assess alternatives, and propose solutions
• apply mathematical analysis to understand and solve business problems
• apply relevant economic, business and marketing concepts or theories in understanding business problems
• undertake critical analysis of business
• seize opportunities and deal with challenges, orally and in writing
• perform assigned tasks alone and in groups
• recognize the significant role the social sciences play in understanding the business environment
