Stéphane Richer, drafted 29th overall in the 1984 NHL Draft by the Canadiens de Montréal, made history as the team’s youngest player to score 50 goals in a season at just 21 years old. Alongside Guy Lafleur, he’s one of only two Canadiens to achieve this feat twice, and he is the last player to have scored 50 or more goals during a season for the Canadiens.

His illustrious career includes winning a gold medal at the U20 World Junior Championship and two Stanley Cups with the Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils. Throughout his 17-year NHL tenure, Richer played for five teams, including two stints with Montréal, the New Jersey Devils, the Tampa Bay Lightning, the St. Louis Blues, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He competed in 1,054 career games, tallying 421 goals and 398 assists for a total of 819 points.

Rick Green, drafted first overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft, also won the Max Kaminsky trophy for most outstanding defenceman while in the Ontario Hockey League. Green was traded to the Canadiens de Montréal in 1982 after playing six seasons with the Capitals. He won the Stanley Cup with the Canadiens in 1986. Green played his final seasons with the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Islanders.

Green played 845 NHL games, scoring 43 goals and making 220 assists for a total of 263 points.

He later went on to become an assistant coach with the Canadiens, the Islanders, as well as the Los Angeles Kings.

Otis Grant

Canadian boxing legend Otis Grant, who had already won a silver medal for Canada at the Pan American Games in 1987, captured the World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight title in 1997.

The Jamaican-born boxer also obtained the North American Boxing Federation (NABF) middleweight title twice.

In 1999, Grant launched the Otis Grant & Friends Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports individuals and families in need.

He now also runs, alongside his brother Howard, Grant Brothers Boxing, a physical fitness centre dedicated to training boxers from the community.
