SOS (Self One Soul)

May 7th, 2018 the cinema and communications program will be hosting an art exhibition created and organized by the students themselves. The students of Myriam Rafla’s integrated activities class will explore the subject of individuality and relationships.  The project, SOS (the Self, the One, the Soul) will offer students an opportunity to explore the theme through a variety of art forms, including personal videos, social experiments, interviews, and photo essays.

Project Update

Myriam Rafla's Integrating Activity class produced the phenomenally successful SOS (Self One Soul) event. This event included:

Anonymous a social experiment about identity through social media.

Astral Ritual  a multimedia installation in which students could intact with various artefacts.

Hidden Identities exploring the loss of self in artistic expression.

Human Reaction another social experiment documenting human interaction over 12 weeks.

Man's Eye View exploring the "male gaze"' concept.

One Story, Three Songs exploring love and loss.

Pretty Poison a choose your own adventure of love and toxicity

S-Ence a reflection on identity outside of western constructs

The Moon and Back a fanciful reflection on a popular expression

Venezuelans in Montreal interviews with Venezuelan women

When Boys Cry a reflection on stereotypes of masculinity

X2 a photo series of black elders and youth.

The event was extremely well attended and provided an exceptional opportunity for IA students' personal expression
