New Partnership Engage Grant Awarded

Congratulations to Catherine Fichten and her Adaptech team who received a Partnership Engage Grant from SSHRC this fall. The team will partner with l’Association québécoise pour l’équité et l’inclusion au postsecondaire (AQEIPS) to create a bilingual online survey tool to evaluate successful employment search and job maintenance strategies for students with disabilities in postsecondary education. The survey will meet international standards for web accessibility and can be used for policy development, advocacy, student employment counselling, as well as future research.

Partnership Engage Grants are a new type of grant offered by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council this year through quarterly competitions. The first competition was in September, with subsequent ones in December, March and June. The grants provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities that will inform decision-making at a single partner organization from the public, private or not-for-profit sector. These partnerships let non-academic organizations and postsecondary researchers access each other’s unique knowledge, expertise and capabilities on topics of mutual interest.
