Arts & Culture Fall 2018 Gala

November 30th, 2018

The Arts & Culture Gala is designed and coordinated by students completing their Integrative Activity course, inviting fellow students, faculty, parents and friends from outside the College to come share in their accomplishments. The theme for this year’s Gala is ISLAND. As described by one of the students (Maya Gasco-Gilmour): “Island; eye-land, I land — Playfully broken down, the word Island denotes many simultaneous meanings. Whether it is, in itself, a physical space, an oasis along the horizon or a lonely rock, or space in the mind, a conception of self filtered through one’s own gaze or even that of the abstract ‘other’, ILAND underscores notions of duality… explored and represented through various media (3D installation, digital media, painting, music, drawing and collage) in both individual and collaborative pieces. Experience the world through the gaze of eight female artists as they grapple with introspection and representation of the self.”
