Advanced Standing

Students with prior Cegep studies will have their credits transferred automatically after registration. This process is done in the fall term after September 19 and in the winter term after February 14.

Students who have attended a post-secondary institution other than a Cegep may request that previous courses be evaluated for equivalent credit for advanced standing in their program. Equivalence request forms are available from the Admissions Office. There is a non-refundable fee of $10, for each equivalence requested, to a maximum of $50. Applicants requesting advanced standing must ensure that the Admissions Office receives all official transcripts and course descriptions (along with translations to either English or French, if necessary) before the evaluation of credits pertinent to the chosen program can be considered.

Regardless of the number of credits granted by equivalence or the number of credits transferred, a minimum of six courses must be successfully completed at Dawson College before the College will consider the student for the Diploma of Collegial Studies ( Diplôme d' études collégiales, DEC ).
