Juliana El-Atat
During my internship at a Level I trauma center, I had the privilege of helping care for a patient during the final moments of his life. Our focus at that time was on ensuring comfort care for the patient. I witnessed firsthand how a nurse’s presence, empathy, and compassion could provide reassurance and dignity to the patient. This experience reinforced my belief that nursing is not only about clinical skills, but also about being a pillar of support for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. It is a lesson that will stay with me throughout my career. Thank you for your generosity and for recognizing the importance of compassionate care in nursing.
