Receiving this award is incredibly meaningful to me and above all, inspires me to do all I can to continue my career of queer activism. As I learn more and more about Joe Rose I am continually inspired by who he was and how hard he fought for our rights. It is amazing how far our school and our city’s queer community has come throughout the past 36 years and I would like to extend my appreciation to everyone who has worked, fought, loved, organized and advocated and is still pushing to build and nurture this thriving community which so many of us call home.
