About The Festival
The ALC Festival is a celebration and exhibition of student work from the Arts & Culture, Cinema-Communications, Interactive Media Arts, Languages, Literature and Studio Arts programs.
In keeping with Dawson’s 50th anniversary, our theme is celebration, and we invite you to celebrate with us.
This year’s festival features a screening of the film Abu and a Q&A with Arshad Khan, academic conferences, the Montreal premiere of All the Wild Horses, a discussion of artificial intelligence and creativity, board games, a Creations exhibition, flamenco dancing, a gala of student work from Arts and Culture, interactive multimedia installations, a Kung Fu exhibition, two plays, a seal workshop guided by an Inuk cultural expert, a sculpture exhibition, student media works, student readings, studio art exhibitions, the launch of the tenth edition of Dawson’s English Journal, video games and much more!
This year, outstanding work in Integrated Activity courses will be presented with a Dawscar, an award created by Rachel Echenberg’s Studio Arts students. These awards have been created to represent each profile and will be displayed in the metro-level display case with posters produced for the festival by Natalie Olanick’s students.
A special thanks to staff, students, teachers and community members who have made these events possible.
