RUN

• Leave the premises via an easily accessible and safe exit
• Inform anyone you meet of the danger
• Keep your hands up in the presence of police officers

HIDE

• Stay calm
• Enter the nearest room
• Lock the door
• Block the door with heavy objects
• Turn off the lights, draw the curtains, and stay silent
• Stay low to the ground and keep away from windows and doors
• Set electronic devices to silent mode
• Don’t let anyone else in
• Wait for the police or first responders to evacuate you safely

FIGHT

• Fight as a last resort and only when your life is in imminent danger
• Defend yourself, you’re the only one who knows if you can disarm and incapacitate an armed assailant
• Attempt to incapacitate the assailant
• Act with as much physical aggression as possible
• Improvise weapons or throw items at the armed assailant
