English as a Second Language – Conversation Workshop – Advanced – C (Online)
Prerequisite: Self-Evaluation for Non- credit workshop at Intermediate level
Intended Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Knowledge: Recognize and use verbs + gerund or infinitive with a change of meaning, recognize and use modals to express degrees of certainty, recognize and use identifying and non-identifying adjective clauses, as well as identify and use discourse connectors.
- Language Skills: Express and support opinions, recognize and use expressions to introduce, defend, and express multiple sides of an issue, as well as express and defend preferences.
- Attitudes: Confidently engage in conversation; express with a more natural English intonation and diction as well as become more comfortable speaking English in front of a group of people.
Methodology:
Using the textbook as a guide, the instructor will lead group discussions and debates to enrich the learner’s oral comprehension and oral expression skills. Learners will have the opportunity to contribute to conversation and present on various topics.
