This 40-hour course for adults corresponds to level 1 on the l’Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français. It is designed for people with no previous knowledge of French.

The aim of the course is to provide the basic language skills needed to communicate in simple everyday situations. The program aims to establish a solid foundation by focusing on the four fundamental skills: oral comprehension, written comprehension, oral expression and written expression.

Among the topics covered, students will discover the basics of French grammar, family-related vocabulary and common expressions of politeness, as well as the skills needed for elementary interactions, such as introducing oneself or requesting and providing personal information (e.g. registering at the local library).

Activities include role-playing, simulating real-life situations, listening comprehension exercises, and a final project in which students present a family photo, putting into practice the notions learned throughout the course.
