French: Telephone and e-mail exchanges

This course is intended for professionals seeking to improve their oral and written professional correspondence.
The aim of the course is to enable participants to communicate with ease and professionalism while adhering to the rules governing French grammar.

The course will provide them with the necessary tools to help them convey their message in a concise, direct, and effective manner. Among the topics covered, we will see, among others, the basics of effective telephone and written communication, tips for managing telephone conversations professionally, email structure, netiquette, etc.

Some activities include role-playing, grammar activities, role-playing games, and listening comprehension exercises (familiarizing with different accents and speech rates).

PREREQUISITES OR PRIOR KNOWLEDGE

French level A2 (CEFR) or level 4 of the Quebec Scale

TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES

The teaching activities describe how knowledge will be transferred from the instructor to the students using a structured and supported approach that promotes engagement. Here are some examples: lectures, storytelling, and modelling.We will work on the 4 language skills.
Learners will have the opportunity to practise the concept under study to deepen their knowledge through oral activities, role-playing games, as well as listening and reading comprehension activities based on authentic documents.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Correspond by phone clearly, understand the interlocutor, leave and take messages, manage difficult situations. .
  • Improve the clarity, quality, and effectiveness of professional emails while adhering to the norms governing the rules of French written communication.

  • Consolidate basic grammatical concepts and continue learning intermediate-level French grammar.
