Hear Education and Advocacy Leader Kassandra Churcher – Nov. 10th

The Women’s and Gender Studies certificate is delighted to welcome education and advocacy leader Kassandra Churcher into our learning community this semester.

Kassandra is a leader in the fields of education, women’s advocacy, and Indigenous partnership, currently serving as the Assistant Director of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq. Alongside her work in education, Kassandra has extensive experience working in gender advocacy, including in her capacity as the former National Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies, where she worked closely with women navigating the carceral system. Her talk will focus on the criminalization of poverty, and sharing her knowledge and expertise in strategies for active and ethical advocacy in issues pertaining to women and oppressed minorities in Canadian communities.
