Spanish for Travel (Online)

This course is intended for learners who wish to use basic knowledge of the Spanish language when traveling or visiting Spanish-speaking countries. The objective of the course is to acquire basic communicative skills that will allow the learner to interact with others in the context of traveling to Spanish-speaking countries.
Topics covered include greetings, introductions, schedules, routines, services, location, distances, family, character description, leisure, and free time. Some activities include the understanding of written and oral documents, interaction with other learners, and the application of grammar rules in practical exercises.

General Objectives:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Briefly introduce themselves using expressions for greetings and indicating their profession, nationality, age, and character.
  • Communicate information about their interests, family, neighborhood, and city.
  • Use basic Spanish vocabulary and structures to participate in short interactions in the context of travel.

Methodology:

There is a lot of interaction with the instructor and among learners to practice the material explained or identified by the latter from the documents presented in class.

To develop primarily communicative skills, in this course students will:

  • Interact with their classmates to exchange basic personal information.
  • Participate in role-plays to simulate real-life situations in groups.
  • Engage in several written and oral comprehension activities to acquire grammatical concepts and vocabulary.

Required Material:

  • Device: PC (Windows 11) or Mac OS 13 (Ventura or newer).
    Laptops or desktops are recommended for full functionality.

    Students may be able to participate using Chromebooks or tablets, but features may be limited.

  • Internet Connection: Minimum – 10 Mbps download / 2 Mbps upload.
    Recommended – 25 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload.

    Wired internet connection is preferred for stability.

  • Audio & Video: Headphones or earbuds with a microphone.
    Webcam (built-in or external) is recommended.
  • Web Browser: The latest versions of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Safari.
