North-South Alumni Raise Funds for an Indigenous Community Hit by Hurricane ETA – You can Help Too!

After hearing that the community of Tuapi, a Miskito, Indigenous, community on the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua had been badly hit by Hurricane Eta, a group of North-South Studies Profile (Social Science Program) alumni and their teacher Gisela Frias (NSS Profile Coordinator) set out to collect emergency funds for the community.  In a matter of days they have managed to collect almost $5000.  The initiative has been supported by alumni, North-Sourth Studies Profile teachers, their families, friends and the Dawson community. As Gisela Frias noted “we should all be proud of providing an educational opportunity that has touched the lives of so many young people who today are global citizens who not only care about the world around them but are ready to act”.

Donations are still being accepted and can be made through the Gofundme website.
