Student-centred Teaching Series

The Role of Literacy and Disciplinary Literacy in
College:  Fostering Student Learning and Autonomy

Presenter:  Lara Pysk,
Date:           December 11, 2019
Time:           9:30am – 12:00pm
Location:    3H.10

In this workshop, disciplinary literacy will be presented as a new perspective for teachers who would like to support and develop students’ learning in their area of specialization. We will alternate between short presentations and interactive activities (reading circles, quizzes), and will conclude with a presentation of strategies to deepen the learning acquired through reading and writing in college. These strategies can also support students in developing their literacy skills.
