Summer 2018

Summer School 2018Timetable & Registration Guide

Summer School and Rattrapage

Note

Regular Summer School classes begin Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

Rattrapage classes begin Tuesday, June 26, 2018.

Summer School is offered to current Dawson students, students from other Colleges (commandite) and non-Dawson students. Registration can be done online (or in-person if you are unable to complete the online registration). Below you can find the different explanations on how and when to register based on your current situation.

The maximum course load permitted is 2 courses or 3 for potential summer graduates from Dawson.  Exceptions may be made when students must take French mise-à-niveau courses.

Students should be aware that summer courses are very intensive since they cover all the same material normally taken in a regular 15-week semester.

Are you a student currently registered in another college?

If you are a student currently registered in a DEC program or in Springboard to a DCS at another college, you may be able to register for up to two courses at Dawson this summer, if your college grants you permission to do so. This official permission from your college is called a commandite.

Dawson will accept commandites through the SRACQ Commandite virtuelle system, which your advisor has access to in order to send your information to us. If your college only produces commandites on paper forms, then you must bring your form to Dawson’s Registrar’s Office counter, Room 2H.1 during the processing dates below.

We will begin processing commandite requests as of Monday, April 9, 2018.

The deadline for Summer School commandite requests is Friday, May 25, 2018.

Step 1: To prepare for Summer School at Dawson, your home college must follow all seven mandatory items below using the Commandite virtuelle system (or their paper form):

  1. All of your correct contact information.
  2. Which one or two courses that you are being permitted to take. Two courses maximum.
  3. The priority of your commandite:
    • Priority A or Fin de programme: means the course(s) that you wish to take at Dawson this summer will allow you to graduate with your DEC in Summer 2018.
    • Priority B: that you need this course to advance in your regular DEC program in Fall.
    • Non-priority may also be indicated.
  4. If you are a Priority A student, the commandite information must include which section you wish to take. For example, 201-NYC-05 section 19002.  Please refer to the Summer school 2018 timetable button above to find correct course and section numbers.
  5. Your email address. If we do not have your correct email address, you will not receive your Omnivox access time, nor your in-person appointment time to register since commandite appointments will be sent by email only. If the email address is incorrect, you could miss your chance to register.
  6. Your advisor must extend the commandite permission to expire on July 31, 2018 so that, after both Summer School and Rattrapage registration, we may respond to your college through the system. All responses from Dawson will be sent by the end of July.
  7. IMPORTANT –  Commandite students may only register for the courses approved by their home college and accepted by Dawson, prior to registration. Commandite students may only register for in-program courses (hors programme – HP – courses will be refused).

Step 2. Once your commandite is accepted, you must create your MyDawson Portal (Omnivox) account to be ready for your online course registration in early June.

Once your commandite has been accepted by Dawson College, you will receive an email detailing the steps necessary to create your MyDawson Portal (Omnivox account). The email will also give you information on your online course registration time.

After receiving your email, it is strongly recommended that you take the time to set-up your MyDawson Portal (Omnivox account) to avoid any technical issues during your online course registration.

In the last week of May, appointments for online course registration will be loaded and you will be able to see your exact appointment time through your MyDawson Portal (Omnivox account).

Here are the commandite timeblocks for online course registration:

  • Commandite Priority A (graduating in Summer): Friday, June 1, beginning at 4:30 p.m. to Monday, June 4, 11:30 p.m.
  • Commandite Priority B and non-priority: Sunday, June 3, beginning at 11:30 a.m. to Monday, June 4, 11:30 p.m.

Step 3. Access MyDawson Portal (Omnivox account) to register at your exact appointment time. Finalize and pay all fees before Monday, June 4 at 11:30 p.m.

Students must pay their fees by credit card or online banking direct payment on the registration web page. Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. No exceptions will be made. If fees are not paid by your in-person appointment time on June 5, your course registration will be cancelled.
