Living Campus Wellness Initiatives

Early Bird Breakfasts (EBB) are back and the next one is scheduled for Feb. 17 in Conrod's. Free and healthy breakfasts are served on a first-come, first-served basis. They start at 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM, depending on the number of volunteers, and we stay open until we run out of food. This month, EBBs will also be available on Feb. 20 and 27.

Interested in coming on board as a volunteer? Show up! Just come by, ask if we need help and grab an apron!

Living Campus initiatives also include our Sustainable and Grown workshops. The workshops aim to help participants make sustainable choices, lower their long-term costs, and enjoy themselves in a relaxed environment! Topics range from first-time budgeting and living on your own to bike tune-ups or small-space gardening. The series kicks off on Feb. 10, and most workshops run from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM or 1:00 PM, depending on the number of participants. Registration is required.

Reorganization of Menus in Omnivox

We have recently reviewed and reorganized Omnivox menus controlled by Dawson* to help you find what you are looking for more easily. Specific changes include the following:

  • More logical groupings have been created to shorten the very long My College Services menu.
  • Descriptors have been added for each menu item.
  • Menu item links no longer applicable to current students have been removed.

You will only see items relating to your status at Dawson (e.g. Day or Continuing Education student). This means that all students will not see identical menu items.

These improvements will be reflected in Omnivox as of February 18.

Existing Omnivox Menus Controlled by Dawson*

  • Admissions Package
  • Placement Test
  • My College Services
  • IT Support Services
  • Student Services

NEW Omnivox Menus Controlled by Dawson*

  • Admissions and Program Transfers
  • Placement Tests
  • Registration and Course Change
  • My College Services
  • IT Support Services
  • Student Services

*All other menus are controlled by the developers of Omnivox, and we have no ability to make changes to them.

Your Take

Dawson through your eyes

UNESCO data shows that there are significantly fewer women professionals in engineering, computer science and informatics, and the natural sciences. There has been progress in recent years, but women still receive smaller research grants than men, and a notable gender wage gap continues to exist. Women and Girls in STEM and Medicine Day was February 11. This international event was an opportunity to raise awareness, ignite interest for career opportunities in STEM, and promote gender equality in science for future generations.
