International Women’s Day event on March 8

Each year on March 8 it’s International Women’s Day. It is a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also is a call to action to join the fight for the advancement of women’s equality.

World renowned feminist and activist Gloria Steinem has said “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” With that in mind, each year the DSSU, ADP and DTU get together to put on an event to raise both awareness in the struggle for equality for women and funds for local women’s shelter, Chez Doris (https://www.chezdoris.org/en/).

Save the date: March 8 in 7C.5 from 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Despite the COVID protocols, the three unions will be hosting an event again this year. On Tuesday, March 8 in the Rose Lounge from 2:30 -4 p.m., there will be a book sale of new and used books and a collection of cash donations in which all monies raised will be donated on behalf of the three unions to Chez Doris. Since we cannot gather and eat, there will be no meal but a light snack will be available as take-out for attendees (while supplies last).

Hope to see you all there!
