Jocelyn Parr named finalist for Governor General’s Literary Awards

Jocelyn Parr of the History department at Dawson has been named as a finalist for a prestigious Governor General Literary Award for her book Uncertain Weights and Measures. This is Jocelyn’s debut novel although her work has previously appeared in various literary magazines.

Jocelyn has been at Dawson for nearly 10 years. Her academic background includes an eclectic mix of creative writing, English literature and history of Latin America, garnering Masters’

degrees in both from Concordia University, and a PhD in English Literature from German university the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen.

The Canada Council for the Arts made the announcement on October 4, naming the 70 writers, poets, illustrators and translators who are finalists in seven different categories. The winners will be revealed on November 1.
