Dawson Goes Platinum!

AASHE Award Ranks Us at the Top

Logo for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education

After years of work and great effort by hundreds of students and employees from the Dawson College community, the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) confirmed Dawson’s platinum rating as a global leader in sustainability.

Students have played a big part in this achievement. Sustainabili-TEAM student volunteers can be found working on campus throughout the week. They take care of plants and gardens, feed the vermi-compost worms, wash dishes for the dish share program, conduct waste audits, feed birds, do laundry and much more. New student volunteers are welcome! You will earn volunteer hours for your transcript and learn a lot.

Take part in the CEGEP Sustainable Mobility Survey!

We are excited to let you know about a short survey on sustainable transportation being administered at Dawson and other colleges. It will only take about 10 minutes, and your input is important!

We want to learn more about how you get to school so we can find ways to make transportation more eco-friendly by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Your answers will help us understand the challenges students face and improve transit options and services.

The survey results will be shared by October 2025, and they'll help us take real action to make a difference at Dawson.

The survey deadline is Apr. 22. Thank you for your commitment to a more sustainable future!

The Streetlight Project

Students Step Up to Make a Difference!

a crouched homeless man holding up a cardboard HELP sign whch covers his faceThis project, launched by third-year Social Service students, is designed to address needs among the unhoused community. Their mission is to promote inclusive, client-centered support to individuals who are experiencing homelessness, with a focus on those living with addiction and/or mental health difficulties.

With the proceeds from fundraising events and donations from members of the Dawson community, Social Service students are building care packages including necessities such as:

  • Winter clothing (gloves, jackets, hats, boots, etc.) and umbrellas.
  • Hygiene products (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, wet wipes, menstrual products),
  • Water bottles
  • Sleeping bags or alternative (emergency blankets, fleece blankets)
  • Non-perishable snacks (granola bars, canned food with pull-tabs, etc.)
  • Backpacks

To date, more than 200 care packages have been assembled by Social Service students. Every contribution helps!

Come Watch Student Artists in Action!

Join us for a live art demonstration right here on campus.

poster publicizing day, time and location of Artists in Bloom fundraising eventArtists in Bloom 2025 - Tickets now on sale!

Artists in Bloom is an annual event held at Dawson to raise funds for our students. During the event, talented student artists from our Illustration and Visual Arts programs create works of art in real time before a live audience. These artworks are then auctioned off by Donna Saker from The Beat, with all proceeds going towards Dawson students.

This year, the funds raised will support Dawson College Mental Health Fund initiatives and also contribute to the artists in funding their vernissages. Over the past 26 years, Artists in Bloom has raised over $150,000 for various charitable causes.

Artists in Bloom 2025 will take place on Apr. 17 starting at 5:30 PM in 3C.1 -- and it promises to be better than ever! A total of 30 student artists will showcase their creativity, so more amazing paintings than usual will be available for bidding!

Ticket prices are $25 for adults, and $15 for students with ID. Children under 12 are free.

Each ticket includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres and one drink, with additional beverages available for purchase at the cash bar.

Tickets can also be purchased at the door on the evening of the event. Don't miss this chance to see live art in the making!
