Welcome to the first edition of the Dawson Insider for the 2025-26 academic year. Sent out every Friday by MIO, it contains need-to-know information for Dawson students.

- Sign the petition calling on the government to restore critical funding to CEGEPs
The Quebec government has cut more than $150 million from the CEGEP network across Quebec, which will impact all students. The petition is in French because it is addressed to the Government of Quebec and will be presented in the National Assembly. - First-Year Office Lounge Schedule
The First-Year Students’ Office’s lounge (2D.0) is reserved for first year students only on Tuesdays and Thursdays all semester. Come visit us from 9 to 6!
- Reserve your Dawson Orange Shirt
If you would like to buy an Orange T-shirt featuring artwork entitled “Remember me” by Shayla Chloë Oroho:te Etienne (Class of 2025, Visual Arts), fill out this form to reserve your shirt before Thursday, Sept. 4. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day is Sept. 30. Stay tuned for more information.

Helpful Info for This Semester
- Absences of less than five days
Medical notes are no longer required for health-related absences of less than five consecutive days. Notify the College, from the mobile app:
- Go to Omnivox
- Click “Services”
- Under “Omnivox WEB Services,” click “Omnivox web version”
- Go to the “Absence declaration form” under “My College Services” and complete the necessary information
- Do this for each day you are absent
- A medical note is required if you are absent for five consecutive days or more.
From a desktop or laptop computer:
- Go to Omnivox
- Go to the “Absence declaration form” under “My College Services” and complete the necessary information

Your teachers will automatically be informed of your absence. However, you must contact each of them to arrange accommodations.
- Sept. 19 deadline to withdraw from a course
The course withdrawal deadline is Sept. 19, 2025 for the Fall 2025 semester. Any course a student withdraws from will NOT appear on the student’s transcript. Students in the first semester of a program must see an advisor at a scheduled drop-in or join an online chat session in order to withdraw from a course.For Fall 2025, the second course drop deadline is Oct. 30, 2025. An AE remark (abandon étude) will appear on the transcript. A student will only be able to drop a course for which attendance has been validated.Deadlines for course withdrawal and course drop vary for intensive courses; check your course schedule or the Timetable for specifics.
