We are seeking students to be part of a conversation that could change how grades are determined. Join the Student Focus Group on Assessments & Grading. Winter 2026 course options for Social Science, Science and Pathways
From Nov. 7 at 3 PM to Nov. 13 at 11:30 PM, returning students in the daytime Pathways Prerequisites and Pathways Orientations programs can select their course option preferences for the Winter 2026 semester. As of Nov. 7 at 3 PM, go to Omnivox → Registration and Course Change → Course Option/Preference Selection Instructions for information.
From Nov. 11 at 4 PM to Nov. 18 at 11:30 PM, returning students in the daytime Science and Social Science programs can select their course option preferences for the Winter 2026 semester if you have any courses with options (choices) proposed to you for next semester. As of Nov. 11 at 4 PM, go to Omnivox → Registration and Course Change → Course Option/Preference Selection Instructions for information.
For Science students, this includes the selection of your preferred topic for the Integrative Project/ Projet d’Intégration (360-SNP or 360-FNP) as well (if proposed).
Win a pass to the Salon du livre de Montréal!
The French Department and Student Services, along with the Dawson Library, are giving away four passes to the Salon du livre de Montréal!
- When: Now through Friday, Nov. 14
- Where: College library, 6th floor by the stairs
- How: Find the highlighted books, read the summaries, answer a simple question, and submit your answer via the library’s “Ask a librarian” page.
- Who: Open to anyone 18 and older.

This coming week at Dawson
- Ontario Universities Virtual Information Session will take place on Nov. 10 from 5 PM to 7 PM. To participate, register at ouevents.ca/virtual/Ontario
- Thrift Sale! Books and Art – Upper Atrium. Happening Nov. 11 from 10 AM to 4:30 PM in the Upper Atrium (caf). A thrift-style event hosted by students in the Cinema | Communications Integrating Activity class featuring a blind book sale, student art. Proceeds will support the Dawson Film Festival.
- Certificate Days: Certificates offer students from all programs the opportunity to interact in a learning community of fellow students and teachers who share a passion for thinking about and finding solutions for specific historical and contemporary issues. Certiciates available include Women’s/Gender Studies, Hellenic Studies, Peace Studies, Decolonization and Indigenization Studies, SPACE: Arts and Sciences, and Environment and Sustainability.Learn more by dropping by the Upper Atrium (caf) between 10 AM - 2 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 12: W/GS/Peace/CDIS & Thursday, Nov. 13: Hellenic/SPACE/E&S. - Mental Health Fair: Happening on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 11 AM to 2 PM in Conrod’ s (2F.4). Students can collect a few stamps to enjoy free fries, bubble tea, and popcorn, by checking out the 19 community organizations offering resources on mental health and student well-being.
- How to find and rent an apartment: Happening Nov. 13 from PM and 1:30 PM. The location will be determine based on the number of RSVP's. Sign up.
- DSU Awards: The Dawson Student Union is offering awards open to all students. The application deadline is Nov. 14. Write to awards@dawsonstudentunion.com
- Ciné-club is postponed until next semester due to the STM strike.
- Get published in the Dawson English Journal: Submit eligible work before Dec. 26 at: www.dawsonenglishjournal.ca and follow the instructions on the How to Submit Your Writing page.
Go for a Minor in Music
Students registered in the ALC program can earn a Minor in Music by completing any four music classes as part of their studies.
Courses include Guitar (three classes), Singing (four classes), and Music Literature options such as Jazz & Blues Culture, Popular Music Culture, Appreciating Music, and Music History. Choose these courses from your options list when registering to add a creative and musical edge to your ALC experience.

Dawson women’s cross-country team heads to nationals
The Dawson College Women’s Cross-Country Running Team is heading to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, to compete in the 2025 CCAA National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 8. The event will be hosted by Holland College. The Blues earned their spot at Nationals after an outstanding season. Following their victory at the RSEQ Sud-Ouest Conference Championship, the team went on to place second at the RSEQ Provincial Championship on Oct. 25. They will be one of seven teams representing the RSEQ at the national event.
Dawson will be represented by: Mia Simpson (pictured, 3rd year, Health Science) – Gold medalist at the Provincial Championship; Amélie Bardon (1st year, Health and Life Sciences); Amelia Clerk (2nd year, Health Enriched); Ella O’Carroll (3rd year, Professional Photography); Mila Degand (2nd year, Health and Life Sciences); and Lieba Bacher-Spitzer (3rd year, Health Science). The team is coached by Justin Pfefferle, Joanne Wedlock, and Katherine Brown.

Model Senate offers post-secondary students a unique opportunity to step into senators’ shoes for a weekend, gain valuable skills and network with like-minded young leaders. The next edition of the event will be hosted in-person at the Senate of Canada Building in Ottawa, from Thursday, May 7 to Saturday, May 9, 2026, and will once again feature a range of exciting activities!

- Free Live Show at Dawson Nov. 20: The QASAP Intercollegiate UNPLUGGED Singing Competition is happening on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 PM at Dawson. Students from Champlain, Dawson, John Abbott, Marianopolis, and Vanier will be competing. First place will receive not only a trophy and $150, but also a spot at the 2026 Montreal Fringe Festival! Come to this free live show for an evening of spectacular music and singing talent!
- Stress Less Activities: The week of Nov. 24 is time to Stress Less! Take some time to check out the activities being offered in Oliver's (2C.17) throughout the week.
