Need-to-know info

In an emergency, you need to know what Code Silver (Code Argent) means. Code Silver is announced if there is an armed assailant or active shooter on site. Each person must evaluate their situation and determine if they should run, hide or fight.

Run: If there is a clear escape path, leave the area immediately.
Hide: If you are unsure if it is safe to leave, stay where you are and barricade yourself in your class/office/room. Lock the door, turn off the lights, block the door with furniture and stay quiet.
Fight: As a last resort, fight back to protect yourself.

Dawson smokers and vapers face fines and sanctions for smoking/vaping on campus. By law, smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the College and outside on the entire Dawson campus. To legally smoke or vape, you must be off campus and at least nine metres away from any door, window or air intake.

For bikers: use Dawson’s designated bike racks or your bike will be locked by Dawson’s security beginning the week of Oct. 6. If your bike gets locked, you will have to go to the Security desk at 2E.14 to have it unlocked.

NASA at Dawson – Be Part of It!

Don’t miss your chance to learn about the icy worlds of our solar system and to interact with international space scientists right here at Dawson College during the Winter break! From Jan. 5–7, 2026, Dawson is hosting its 2nd NASA Workshop on Ices in the Solar System.

Twenty-five students will be selected from an application pool for subsidized spots and invited to participate in learning activities through the SPACE initiative. A further 15 spots at a reduced student price are also available for those who wish to attend.

Indigenous Perspectives series continues with Tiio Hemlock

Two more presentations of Hecuba, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4

The Professional Theatre department is proud to present Hecuba, a story about the women at the end of the Trojan war. This modern adaptation by Irish playwright Marina Carr is directed by Leslie Baker and performed by second-year students. Tickets are pay what you can, suggested donation of $5. Showtime is 7:30 PM Friday, Oct. 3 and Saturday, Oct. 4. Enter by 2000 Atwater Avenue.

Tariff war talk on Oct. 6

Happening on Monday, Oct. 6, 11:30 AM -12:45 PM, in 5B.16. There will be a representative from Statistics Canada speaking about the US-Canada trade restrictions and how they affect the Canadian economy.
