Alyson Grant’s New Play Serves Up Awkward Family Dynamics

The English department’s Alyson Grant is at it again, and to great effect. Her play Conversion is playing until February 25 in NDG, see link for details: https://events.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/event/conversion-presented-by-infinitheatre/2018-02-13/

The play, much like its predecessors Trench Pattern and Progress!, explores the dynamics of everyday life until they explode into profound examinations of war, life and death, and in this play, of sexism, race and bias. Presented by Infinitheatre, it has been described as inducing the same sort of edgy discomfort as Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, but that makes it impossible to look away. For more information on the play, this preview provides great insight into Alyson’s work.
