Winter Clothing Drive for Refugees and Newcomers

November 19th, 2024

The Dawson Teachers' Union has joined the effort of Welcome Collective to collect outdoor winter clothing for refugee claimants and newcomers. We are asking the Dawson community to contribute winter coats, boots, snowsuits, snow pants, and accessories like scarves, mittens, gloves, and hats for both adults and children. Items can be used but should be in good condition. Note that other items such as sweaters and rain boots are not accepted.

Please bring donations to the DTU office (8A.11) between now and Monday, Dec. 9.

Welcome Collective's core mission is to provide immediate help to the city’s most precarious refugee claimants in the belief that ‘Everyone has the right to seek and enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution’ (Universal Declaration of Human Rights).
